    Brian W. Aldiss () was an English author of science fiction novels and short stories. Aldiss grew up reading the works of H.G. Wells, Robert Heinlein and eventually Philip K. to becoming an author, he served in the Royal Signals in World War II (where he saw action).   Brian Aldiss, born in , is one of the most prolific authors of both general and science fiction. In a writing career stretching from to the present he has published over seventy books. He has also been an influential compiler of science fiction anthologies.
